9Line Release 5.0: SMS Notifications and Enhanced HELD Support

9Line Release 5.0

9Line Release 5.0 is here, bringing expanded notification capabilities and enhanced location support to help organizations strengthen emergency communications and compliance strategies.

This latest release focuses on two key areas: SMS notification delivery and expanded HELD protocol support.

SMS Messaging Now Supported for Notifications

With Release 5.0, SMS messaging is now supported as a delivery medium for notifications.

Administrators can configure SMS recipients directly within notification configurations—similar to how email notifications are managed. This added delivery channel provides greater flexibility in ensuring critical alerts reach the right people quickly and reliably.

Because SMS functionality must be enabled by a 9Line administrator, organizations interested in activating this feature should contact their 9Line account manager for additional details.

By adding SMS as a supported notification medium, 9Line continues to enhance how organizations distribute time-sensitive information during emergencies and critical events.

Expanded HELD Support

Release 5.0 also expands 9Line’s HELD (HTTP-Enabled Location Delivery) support to include RFC 5985.

This enhancement allows compatible phones that support RFC 5985 to leverage 9Line services for geolocation based on connected network infrastructure. By utilizing standardized network-based location mechanisms, organizations can further improve location accuracy for emergency response scenarios.

As network infrastructure and endpoint capabilities continue to evolve, expanded standards support ensures organizations can maintain compliance and maximize interoperability across their communications environment.

Built for Modern Emergency Communications

9Line 5.0 reflects our ongoing commitment to improving notification flexibility, standards support, and location accuracy. These updates help organizations adapt to evolving technical requirements while maintaining confidence in their emergency response systems.
